Cultural Day in Tokyo

It was a cultural Sunday... We were invited to a Nou play 能 somewhere near Shibuya. It was those very ancient kind of Japanese play & were acted by all males. This play is called Hagoromo 羽衣 which means the celestial robe of an angel.

On the road to the theatre Free bento

We were given door gift & free bento & drink. It was yummy! but Wee Ling didn't quite like it cos she didn't quite like vegetables. LOL

This is the door gift.. Inside is a scarf pretty nice.

This play was about this fisherman who happened to find the celestial robe of an angel.. When this angel realised her robe was taken by this fisherman, she asked him to return it to her. If not, she could not return to the heaven. But this fisherman was reluctant to return initially...

But after some time he heard from the commoners that the angel could dance beautifully... So he decided to return the robe to her on the condition that she danced for him. The angel was super happy abt this & agreed... but she asked the man to return her the robe 1st & she would dance. The fisherman did want to return her as he thought if he return to her 1st, she might just fly away without doing the dance. So this angel said that angels are different from mankind. They do not lie & they do not have doubts unlike human beings.

After hearing this, the fisherman felt remorseful & therefore he returned the robe to her & the angel dance for him before flying off to the heaven... LOL it was a very chim play.. Dun really understand what they were talking abt cos they used very ancient kind of speech. hahaha.. Not as if i know a lot lah but according to Drama Princess and Stefi who is so pro in Japanese... They couldn't understand.

This angel was acted by a 80+ years old man. His daughter invited us to the play & he gave us the door gift. His name was written on the pressie. hahaha... cool huh?

We were not allowed to take picture.. I tou tou take de... so a bit blur hahhaha.. You have no idea how scared I was to be caught hahahaha...

After the play, we went to Shinjuku & tried to find our way to henshin-maiko. We had booked for appointment to do a makeover LOL wahaha... Wee Ling will do the maiko & I will do the Kimono. It was a tiring process... The make-up, the hair & the wearing of kimono. They really pulled until it was difficult to breath but it was a cool experience. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The photographer was quite cool hahaha.. and his English was pretty good. I'm pretty amazed cos many Japanese couldn't really speak English. The rest were all ladies.. LOL they were so pretty.. 1 of them was quite cool.. Her hair was gold & she had tattoo on her arm... & she was the one do my hair. The lady who did my make-up looked very sweet. hahaha..

After we were done with the dressing & make-up... It was time for photoshots! Frankly I hate to take photo & now I even have to pose & hold & smile... kaoz.... I hold until my lips cramp... LOL Drama Princess & WL saw & they laughed. hahahah & we all burst out laughing.. diaoz... Furthermore I had to wear that wooden slippers which were so small & I couldn't even balance properly. hahahahaha... Tough job... But the photographer & staff were so patient with me hahaha... & they taught me how to pose & relax. hhahaha..

After Drama Princess took this pic for us, she said WL why she so unglam. hahaha.. Not demure enuf being a maiko. LOL her sleeves fell & showed her arms hahahaha.. We all burst out laughing hahahhaa.. but she was really funny.

We were then given a booklet with 3 of our photos. We paid & left hahaha... It was tiring but worth the money lol. They were all so friendly hahaha.. Then we went to eat at Shakey's Pizza... We were so hungry!!! hahahaha

Guess we ordered a lot.. LOL they were so yummy. I liked the onion rings. hahaha..

After our sumptuous dinner... we went to the street to shop around & we saw many Japanese were doing the riot. Cos of the economy downturn, they were rioting to urge the government to do something abt it. It was a very civilised kind of riot. They had a lot of happening props & they played cool music & played the Japanese drum. Those westerners saw & danced with them hahaha... really cool... They even played the ghostbuster song hahaha..

After that we went back to our hotel and I tried this pear drink I bought from the convenience store. OMG this is so yummy! hahaha.. Only this brand is nice.. I tried another brand.. i felt the taste a bit fake. But this pic de is perfectly fine. Remember this ah! hahaha...
